Auction Services

Buying at Auction

In today’s market, auctions offer the most public record for prices and are an exciting and tempting setting for personal acquisitions.  While auctions can be a wonderful resource, when the hammer falls it is important to remember that the artwork becomes the property of the highest bidder and cannot be returned or exchanged if it turns out to be in poor condition.  For this reason it is imperative to examine the work carefully before bidding and it is essential to have the expert opinion of a trained eye.

At Coskun, we can assist private individuals and corporate clients in acquiring works of art at auctions worldwide.  We can view the works with you or on your behalf and provide you with a detailed condition report, advice on prices and bid on your behalf.  Please contact the gallery for fees and terms. 

Selling at Auction

We can advise on the logistics of selling your works at auction from deciding on location to appraisals and valuations.

Please note that each auction has a consignment deadline, or closing date, usually two to three months in advance of the scheduled auction.  If you are considering selling a work of art, please take this into consideration.

Consignments

When looking to sell a work from your collection, it is often difficult to decide who you can trust to get you the best price with the best service.  With our extensive private client database and market contacts we often have buyers waiting for a particular work to become available.

We are open to consignments from our clients who have purchased works from us over the last twelve years.  We can sell works on your behalf providing it falls into an area of our specialisation and the work is in excellent condition.

We would like to invite sellers who wish to sell works by Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Tom Wesselmann to contact us.

You may email us photographs with full details of the work including dimensions and any markings.  Based on the information you provide, we can evaluate the value of your work and give you recommendations on selling.  We may also visit you at your home should you wish to consign works that we are actively seeking to buy or take on consignment basis.

Collection & Shipping

Buyers arrange shipping and may use their own carriers or request assistance from Coskun.   We have facilities worldwide to help with packing and shipping of purchased property.

We can advise on your country’s applicable customs and import duties and provide you with different quotations to suit your requirements.  Please contact the gallery for further information.


Framing

We provide full framing services for all our clients.  As we work in conjunction with London’s leading framers, we can provide you  with different styles of framing to suit your personal taste.

At Coskun we only frame our pictures in Conservation Materials using the latest technology.  Conservation framing employs the use of materials that have been proven to protect and maintain art in as close to its original condition as possible.  

All works on paper tend to deteriorate with exposure to light, atmospheric pollution and other contaminants.  The simplest and most effective way to protect a work on paper is to use acid free "museum" boards for all mounting and backing as well as acid free mounting tape.

It is important to use UVA proof glazing materials.  There is a huge selection to choose from depending on your budget.  We can advise you as to which one you will need.

It is important for our customers to understand that conservation considerations do not just apply to the framing of new work.  It is just as important to look at the pictures you have that are already framed.  In general the older your frame, the less likely it is to have been mounted with conservation materials.  It is important also to change the glazing every five years depending on conditions as the UVA filter can diminish over time.


Installation

We provide a complete installation service at your convenience. We use professional technicians to ensure that your work of art is installed to your complete satisfaction. If required, a member staff can assist you in person as to how and where to hang the work.

 

Insurance & Valuations

We provide insurance valuations for works of art purchased from us.  Please note that your work of art should be insured for its replacement value.  At Coskun, we provide all of our customers with current replacement value at the time of purchase.  If you would like a valuation for a work that was purchased through our gallery after that time, we kindly request that a small donation be made to our charity.  Please contact the gallery for details.

We can also provide you with a name of an insurance company to suit your needs.


Restoration

We can assist you with restoration of a work in your collection by putting you in touch with the relevant bodies or having the work restored on your behalf.
